there are so many music videos that have inspired me over time, that eye thought it would be good to dig up some of my favorites of the past & post one a month. I'll start with this one. Love this video for Gnarls, directed by Wendy Morgan & filmed in Jamrock. a great example of a compelling, ambiguous concept without the bands appearance. and like all memorable videos, a functional marriage of visuals & editing to draw attention the music within a great song. refreshing take on a 'dance' video too. it's got it going on.

HomeBrew's Radio & Drinking Tour of Duty
To promote tomorrow nights party, we made these webisodic skits of the homebrewcrew & the 'street team' visiting a
handful of poncesonby radio stations. we had many laughs improvising these clips & I shot them on my SLR in under
2 hours. chairs to my man Nath Pickles for the tight edit. Come down to the Party @ PlayThing Gallery asta manana night,
6-12am to support the FunDraiser for us to make a Video for the crew's song 'Underneath the Shade' & see a range

a videos a Brewing
the iPhoto is a hint to the Idea. I've been hanging with Tom & the Bro's from HomeBrew for the last few months, fermenting Ideas for their first Video. I gotta admit being a longtime fan. In fact its the 1st band I've personally approached to make a video for in many years. I think they make the refreshing local hip hop that New Sealand has been unspokenly waiting for. At least I feel I have.

a Fast month.
Excuse my absence, Im still getting used to this blOgligation & its been quite the fast month. I was in the land of Oz for just over two weeks, initially with whanau, but then to Sydney to hustle work. [to the tune of everyday Im hustling, hustling, hustling.] Now Im back home, aotearoa, back home to my writing shed, as the fam stay in Oz for 2 more weeks. I sure miss my girls. I came back early both for work & also for some screenRighting. I found last year that the only time that I can really be productive on my screenplay is when Im alone. So upon getting home, I didn't leave the house for 3 days & got my productivity on. It felt great. My film Idea is finally alive again. & so I feel more alive.
As an aside, I also thought it was the right chance to tick something on my bucket list & try fasting. Not for dietary or religious reasons, but just for good old curiousity. Much of the world is still starving, Ive always been curious as to what true hunger feels like. Day1 was a conversation with my appetite, who was eventually understanding. Day2 was headaches & dizziness & less productive on the writing tip. Day3 I felt elevated & great. Clear headed, sensorially lifted, very present, & didn't even really care for food. I had lost all appetite. But 72 hours later just before checking out the Jean Grae : Talib Kweli gig [chur Tim], I had a smoked fish pie & a little creatures pale ale. Probably one of the best sips of beer of my life. Real Good. Really, really Good. The fasting went by fast & in retrospect Im glad I did it, and based on how I feel these days following I expect I'll do it again someday. When my Mrs talented cooking isn't around again that is.

8 months to Mars. [the National Radio interview]
last monday I was on National Radio interviewed by the good man Jim Mora about if I were to travel to Mars. Its a long running format much like the 'desert island' syndrome, but updated with various hypothetical Qs about what if you went to Mars. Its simply a space vehicle to ask guests Qs about their current work, projects, thinking & this thing I call the goodLife. There's been a number of requests from heads that missed it as it aired live, so below is the link to it if you have the patience for its length. Id suggest a cuppa, a cold one, or get other things done while you listen, as it works as it should as peripheral radio.

this has been years in the making in my mind & just less than a month of hard work & late nights. huge credit & big respect goes to my man Jason 'ace' Williamson for the patient & simplified construction & build of the whole site, as well as to the talented graphic designer & gentle eye of Rehana Dayananda. it sure felt good when Jase let me click that 'go live' button.
both of them did remarkable work, bringing my background stills to life through flash, and made the site the window into my work. finally, for me, its satisfying to see the 'best of' ten years filming as one whole body of work, that collectively works as one. thanks webTeam goodLife, eye owe both of you big time.
